Class 2 2022 - 2023

Class Charter 2022-2023

In Class 2 we have a mix of Year 1 and 2 children taught by Miss Sara Huntlea. The children are also supported in their daily learning by Mrs Debbie Dixon our full-time Educational Teaching Assistant. Camilla DeSantis also works in Class 2 to support on a 1:1 basis. The routine in Class 2 involves the children quietly entering school at 8.45 to register and then be quickly ready for Read Write Inc phonics sessions. We are then ready to learn specific sounds linked with the National Curriculum Spellings. English lessons take place after phonics. In Maths we follow the White Rose scheme.

All the children follow the National Curriculum and in May 2023 the Year 2 children will take their SAT's (Standard Attainment Tests) in Maths and Reading Comprehension. The Year 1 children will also have been prepared for their phonics screening test which takes place in June 2023.

We believe that with everyone working together as a team, we can ensure that each individual child reaches their full potential in a happy and secure environment.

In Class 2 the children are encouraged to -

  • Learn the essential knowledge, skills and understanding of a broad range of curriculum subjects.
  • Engage with their learning so that they remain committed to learning throughout their school careers and beyond.
  • Develop the personal qualities they need to be good citizens in an ever-changing world.
  • Develop a sense of their own nationality and culture at the same time as developing a profound respect for the nationalities and cultures of others.

The children have collaborated to create a Class Charter for this year which is displayed in Class 2 and reminds us about being respectful towards each other.
